Entry 60
Zombies are like turkeys! The zombies left outside were killed last night by some hail. Admittedly it was the size of baseballs and tore up cars in the parking lot. The hail must have been too large for the wind to catch so it did not break out any building windows. I cannot help but wonder what is causing this weather. We have had big thunderstorms before but the hail was pea-sized at worst. One thing is for sure: no going for strolls during thunderstorms.
My whole day was tempered by my fear of the storm clouds overhead. While the hail had not reached the windows, it had hit the walkways. While I was rummaging through my clothes for the most impact-resistant options I remembered the construction crew had left a couple hardhats in the laundry room closet. Had the zombies made it through the hail they might have died of laughter once they saw me looking like a marshmallow with a yellow hardhat.
The first three apartments had all been quickly emptied of food and other easy to carry supplies. It makes me wonder if they left together, nothing really indicated either way. The next apartment was special. At first I thought it had been ransacked. But it seemed all the supplies worth taking were still in the apartment. After a more careful examination I realized the person was just a horrid slob. Messy falls short of describing the mess. It took quite a long time to sort through the junk. It worked in my favor as he appeared to favor foods which did not spoil. Quite a bit of soda, chips, and other snacks were scattered throughout the apartment. I just wish he had thought about closing bags and finishing drinks, he wasted a couple days worth of food.
While I was sorting through the bedroom the rain started again. I probably should have continued with my search, but I was worried about being caught up here if it started to hail. I quickly headed to my apartment. I still had a good chunk of day left after putting the supplies away. I considered trying some other project but I was already worn out thanks to the hail keeping me up last night.
I settled on listening to the rain while eating a mini-chocolate cake.
