Entry 67
The chill of the night seems to filter through my apartment a few hours before sunrise. I woke up and had to bundle up to get warm enough to fall back asleep. I am not sure what I will do once it becomes truly cold. I probably have enough wood in the upper two stories that I could keep a small fire burning for awhile. But, I need to find a way to keep the heat in the apartment while not burning down the building. My thought is to build a fireplace with some sort of chimney to the outside. At the moment I am not quite sure how to make that work.
I suppose staying warm is not quite as important as the food and water situation. Without more supplies I will probably die from thirst before the cold is a real problem. I think my only real option is to go through the first floor apartments to give me enough to go out and look for better sources. What I would not give to live near a canned meat factory right about now. Actually, now that I think about it, I remember a show where they talked about eating canned cat and dog food in an emergency. Not my first choice, but there are some pet stores nearby. I wonder if it could make you sick?
Regardless, for the moment the smartest choice is to stay near the apartment and go through the first floor. I am not sure what a day of real activity will do to me after being stuck in bed ill. It would suck to find out I did not have the energy to make it back to the apartment after heading out in search of supplies.
I am not looking forward to going back down to where I was bitten. I know that zombie could not have survived the shotgun blast at point blank range, but how many more are there?
