Entry 56
Only two zombies are left today. The other three must have been burned too badly to stay alive or undead or whatever since only two are still moving. I considered making another Molotov to deal with them, or just using my gun. But, I have no immediate need to kill off the last couple other than my dislike of them. It will also give me more time to try to find a less supply-intensive method of killing them.
It was time to go through the rest of the apartments. It seemed worthwhile to go ahead and get the shotgun from the laundry room. I was pretty sure the zombies never managed to break in so all I had to do was go down and grab it real quick. After moving the desk I carefully pulled up the plywood and confirmed they had not gotten in. With the shotgun secured and the master key I was ready to go through the apartments.
Instead of completely going through an apartment after making sure it was safe, I decided it was time to check them all and finally know if they were empty. I began at 208 and moved apartment by apartment ensuring no zombies were left. There were a few clouds but for the most part it was sunny which helped me see further before relying on a flashlight. By now my ability to search an apartment was almost innate. I fought to treat each apartment as thought it was my first, not rushing and being careful. I remember a police friend saying it is when you relax that things go wrong.
While it felt like I did not spend long in any apartment by the time I had finished both floors it was already evening. No apartments had any tenants remaining to surprise me which was nice. After I ensured an apartment was empty, I looked around to get an idea of what supplies might be in the apartment. As I walked back down to my apartment I had an idea of which apartments might yield the most valuable supplies.
Now I can finally relax at night knowing there are no zombies up with me. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish sorting through the stuff in the second floor apartments.
