Entry 52
I have barely slept since yesterday. Instead of losing interest and heading off it seems the zombies have continued to show up. There must be more than fifty of them outside now. They continued the assault on the laundry room door throughout the night. They are no longer attacking the door but they still surround it.
It is terrifying how quiet the zombies can be when they are not moving around or attacking. If I could not look out and see the horde I would not believe they were there. They also no longer make any sort of growls or other noises. The only noise the one I shot made was a thud as it hit the ground. Maybe the vocal cords have rotted away or something. If only their muscles were rotting, they seem as fast as they ever were. They also do not seem to care about pain; I have seen the one I shot staggering near the edge of the pack with bones protruding from its leg.
I was too afraid to do anything and risk making noise. I have no idea what they are capable of in such large numbers. Instead I quietly snacked on some crackers and watched the mass of zombies. It is almost hypnotic how they move, a writhing mass with tendrils that occasionally spiral out before returning to the body. They also never bump into each other even though they are only inches apart. It is like watching a flock of birds as they are migrating. For moments I forget these are zombies who want to murder and eat me.
It is a good thing I have some extra supplies and other apartments to go through. It almost seems like they are waiting. As if they know I will eventually have to leave these apartments in search of supplies.
