Alive!
Good day folks. So sadly I have somewhat let the site die. A combination of not being quite sure where I wanted the story to go combined with work led to the site being neglected. I have not forgotten the site however and I am currently in the process of teaching myself wordpress. It is my goal to bring the site back from the dead and into Wordpress. The migration will actually dramatically improve the speed of an update and allow much better update options. The re-release of this site will also correspond to another project I am working on which is in the planning stages. Stay tuned and I am sorry for for the long AWOL period.
Entry 68
It is amazing what a few months of no vehicles can do to the air. I was anxious this morning to do something so I headed up to the third floor to start looking for materials I could use to build a fireplace and chimney. Not too long after the sun was up I realized I could see miles further than I ever had in the past. Too bad everyone else is too busy to stop shambling about and take in the beauty.
The reason for heading up to the third floor is that some of the apartments up there were renovated recently with stainless steel sinks and fake granite counter tops. My idea was to use those to build some sort of fireplace. I still am not sure exactly how to build a chimney but if I use the counters as a tile floor and the sinks as the actual fireplace, I think I can make something pretty solid. I remember that the old style stoves are much better at heating places because very little of the heat is lost since the metal sides radiate heat into the room. In fact, if I built it right, I could even use it to try and cook something.
It would be quite a few days of work to simply get the sinks and counter tops apart and into my apartment. I also am not sure how I would attach the sinks to make the fireplace. I wonder if drywall is flammable. It is made out of some sort of mineral. I will have to experiment with it tomorrow to see. That could be an easy way to make a chimney.
The more pressing issue is food and water though. I don't think I am ready to head out tomorrow but I can get ready to go out the next day. Guess if I get too close to zombies I will not have to worry about building a fireplace.
