Entry 36

I really tried to spend awhile working on picking the lock. After a little over an hour I gave up and went to get ready to cut into the apartment. I decided I would spend the first half of the day going through the apartment and the second half working on the ramp.

Cutting into the apartment was pretty much the usual. There were no zombies inside so it went well. I did not bother with anymore barricades. At first glance I though the apartment must have been ransacked but a closer look showed the person must have been a slob. Stuff was all over the floor and counters. The bedroom had laundry thrown all about and the whole apartment looked like it had not been cleaned since the person moved in. The good part though is apparently he was lazy in cooking as well. His freezer was full of easy to make microwavable food. He also had chips, crackers and ramen. In fact, he only had some long expired milk and condiments in the fridge. It was quite a find, a couple weeks of food if I keep eating at the same pace I have been.

Part of my day after lunch I spent getting together what I needed for the ramp. The rope in the utility room was plenty long enough to cut into the pieces I needed. I was considering getting the ramp set up but I saw no reason to put it into place. All I would be doing is adding a chance they could get up without any reason to. If it was an emergency I could easily tie it to the walkway and use it as a ramp. I would just have to pull it up by hand or cut it down.

The ramp prep did not take very long so I went back into 206 and began move anything useful out of the bedroom and moved the junk from the apartment and my trash into it. It is interesting as I move all the stuff around in an apartment. In a way you get to learn a little bit about the person and who they were. Even though I had never met this person I had come up with an idea of what he would be like. I am happy I was not his roommate though, the mess would have driven me crazy.

I do miss people. It is hard knowing I may never see anyone again. I just have to hope I can find someone else out there.
