Entry 34

Still feeling not great, I spent the first half of the day trying to unlock 206. I tried out some other random tools and bits of wire to see if they were any better. I ended up back with the paperclip as my pick and a smaller screwdriver to turn the lock. I did not make much progress but I did finally get one pin in place a couple times. The process is very similar to the gun safe, but the pressure required on the lock and the way you push the pins up is a bit different. Hopefully now that I have gotten a feel for the difference I will start to make more progress.

As I was picking the lock, I came up with an idea to reach the ground floor. I had considered a staircase or ramp but the weight would make it too hard to pull up. If I made it a bit longer and added weights to the top side I could make it balanced enough that I could simply tilt it up when not in use.

I spent the second half of my day looking for materials I could use for the ramp/stairway. The problem is I do not have any long beams. The longest I have would not reach the ground vertically let alone at an angle. But, the hollow steel railing along the walks might work. It is strong enough you can lean against it and it is in long sections. I can reach the bolts which hold it to the walkway easily so removing it would not be too difficult. I am a bit apprehensive removing it. I have never been to the point where the rail stopped me from falling, but a fall now would be certain death regardless of how hurt I was from the fall. I could take it off of the third floor where I doubt I will spend much time.

I called it a day earlier than normal. I was both rather tired and finally was a bit hungry. I threw out a couple of items in the fridge which looked the most questionable. It's not worth eating if it makes me sick. Instead, I cooked some frozen food. I should probably be using up the last of the refrigerated food, but I knew the frozen food would still be good. I could not handle another day like yesterday.
